About this visa:
To get this visa you must be current or former Australian permanent residents, or former Australian Citizen and your visa travel validity period of your permanent visa has expired or is about to expire. You can apply this visa from inside of Australia or outside of Australia. It is must for all family members to apply separate application to renew their PR except the family member included in the passport of the main applicant.
Important: You are advised to apply for this visa before you leave Australia.
Minimum eligibility to apply this visa:
- You must be an Australian permanent resident or former Australian permanent resident whose last permanent visa was not cancelled or former Australian Citizen who lost or renounced their citizenship.
- You must have spent two (2) of the last five (5) years in Australia as a permanent resident.( application must be from inside Australia)
- If you are absent from Australia for more than 3 years during your last 5 years Permanent visa then you must have to show substantial business, cultural, employment or personal ties of benefit to Australia.(Application can be made from inside or outside of Australia)
- If you have been absent for more than five (5) years, you are able to provide evidence of compelling reasons for your absence.
What does this visa allows you to do?
This is the renewal of permanent resident visa which allows you a permanent resident status for 5 years.
Australian permanent residents can:
- Live and work in Australia on a permanent basis without any condition.
- Study in Australia at school or university ( No need to pay international student fees and no 20 hour work limitation)
- Receive subsidized healthcare through Medicare and the PBS
